            * Echium strictum L. fil., Suppl. Pl.: 131(1782) [E. ambiguum DC.; E. virescens Jan]
               Species native to the Canarie islands and collected by Jan in Southern Sicily and at Catania, but
               not found anymore. Perhaps a casual alien and therefore to be excluded from Sicilian flora. – EX.

               Echium parviflorum Moench in Meth.: 423 (1794) nom. illeg. = E. italicum subsp. italicum. For
               the legitimacy of the name E. parviflorum, see Gibbs (1971: 79). – Stony and rocky slopes, semi-
               ruderal localities. – Throughout the region. – CC.

            * Echium spurium Lojac., Fl. Sicul. 2 (2): 80 (1904)
               Intermediate form between Echium calycinum and E. arenarium perhaps lacking of taxonomic
               value. – Stony and rocky slopes, semiruderal localities. – Intermediate morphology between the
               two taxa are confirmed by Sommier (1922: 60) on Malta and Pantelleria specimens.
